In Between Chair, &Tradition

The interpay between positive and negative space is central to in Between, Samy Kallio's new chair for &Tradition.

 

 

Its back and side panels provide a concrete shape and support, but forms are created equally by the gaps in between then.

“What’s exciting about In Between is the successful clash between the industrial process and the traditional techniques that reference hand-crafted wooden furniture,” says Martin Kornbek Hansen, brand director of &tradition. In Between’s combination of modern industry and traditional craft is in perfect accordance with &tradition’s championing of tradition tied to innovation” explains Sami.

Kartell New Products Fall 2012

Jelly by Patricia Urquiola, Jelly is a series of design items consisting of 2 pieces: a vase, and a plate/table center. With this new series Kartell in its continuous search for new tactile and aesthetic effects once again demonstrates its technological know-how in experimenting with the texturisation of surfaces.

Kartell Abbracciaio Candle Holder by Philippe Starck. Even if they are no longer used for lighting, candles still shed the light of the designer’s creative spark thanks to design supports that lend them contemporary appeal. Abbracciaio is an aluminium casting of two shapes which when placed one in front of the other become a loving embrace. The two structures are linked giving the piece stability. Elegant and poetic, Abbracciaio holds two candles and is made of polished aluminium in gold, silver and gun metal colours.

 

Kartell Only Me Mirror by Philippe Starck. Only Me reflects the Narcissus present in each one of us.

• Designed by Starck, Only Me is a mirror (only size 50x70 cm available), encased in a slim PMMA frame of 8 cm, made of various transparent colours - emerald green, fuchsia and azure, or in the two matte classics of white and black.

Kartell Shanghai Vase by Mario Bellini. A multifaceted vase opening from the base to the top in a swirling motion that projects light and energy. With an element of play, and allows the concept of time to be demonstrated. The point in time is presented by the fixed position of the ball.
