Bald & Bank

Its name sounds gimmicky, but this outlet showcases what are perhaps the most sophisticated lamps in Europe. Launched by entrepreneurs Anders Bang and Gitte Bald, it began by selling only one item, the IQlight, a lampshade from the heyday of disco in the '70s. Designed by Holger Strøm in 1972, the lamp had long become passé until Bald and Bang brought it back in 2000. The lampshade is made from linking pieces of off-white plastic that can be combined in different sizes and shapes. Some of their latest lamp designs include the futuristic "Fuse." They also go back in Denmark's design past to rediscover golden oldies, including Louis Weisdorf's 1965 "Turbo," made from a dozen pieces.
